Hereward College Open Day

After a very successful Open Day in November 2012, where more than 100 participants attended Hereward’s 1st open day in the last 10 years, the college will be opening its doors to prospective students and their parents once more on Thursday 28th February between 10 am – 4 pm.

Hereward College, a general FE College in Coventry with specialist facilities for students with diverse and complex support needs, will be hosting the Open Day in order to give students an in-depth knowledge of the College’s academic, social and cultural offerings.

Prospective students will get the chance to tour the college campus, facilities and residential blocks, and talk to teachers and students about courses in Creative Arts, Media, Drama and Music, Business, Information Communication Technology, Physical Education and Personal Progress. Parents and students will have the opportunity to find out more information about student activities at college which are aimed at developing independent living skills, skills of self-advocacy and study skills.

Participants will also be offered talks on the practicalities of college life, covering everything from finance to residential accommodation to specialist support requirements including assistive technology, physiotherapy, conductive education, occupational therapy, care and education enabling, social and emotional support and counselling.

Mike Shaw, Vice Principal of Quality and Curriculum said: “We are so pleased, once again, to be able to open our doors and invite people in to see the wide range of facilities we have. This event is the ideal opportunity for people to see what we do and how we do it at Hereward, through seeing the building and facilities, as well as speaking to our excellent staff and students.”

This comes after the College has launched an Online Interactive Prospectus  at, which perfectly complements the information that students can receive at the Open Day. The prospectus features videos for each of the College’s curriculum areas, as well as videos about the college’s specialist support services, the college life for current students and other useful information for new students before enrolling to college.
